Michigan man wins $2M lottery after flood destroyed his home

A Michigan man won a lottery jackpot after a flood left him with nothing, Almaty.tv reports, citing Lenta.ru.

According to People, the 29-year-old resident of Midland, Michigan, said he normally doesn't buy $20 tickets, but that day, he decided to take a chance while stopping by a store for a few items.

"When I first saw that I'd won, I thought I'd just gotten back the money I spent on the ticket. But when I realized I'd hit the jackpot, I started shaking," he described his emotions in the car, where he scratched off the ticket's protective layer.

He had the choice of receiving $2 million in annual payments or taking a lump sum of $1.3 million. He opted for the latter.

The winner plans to pay off his debts and save the rest. The lucky man said the best feeling in the world for him is knowing his children will be taken care of.
