Monbulk friends win $6.5M TattsLotto after 40 years of loyalty

A group of long-time friends from Monbulk has won a life-changing AU$6.5 million prize in the TattsLotto draw. Their ticket, bought at a local newsagency, was the only division one winner in Australia for that draw. The friends had played the same numbers for four decades before hitting the jackpot.

The winning numbers—2, 4, 5, 13, 14, 21, 22, and 37—matched the friends’ long-standing selection. Their ticket was purchased at Monbulk Authorised Newsagency on 76 Main Street, a shop that has now sold three top prizes in the last four years.

Each of the four winners will take home approximately AU$1.62 million. Despite the windfall, one of them plans to keep working, saying they enjoy their job too much to retire completely.

The friends’ persistence paid off after 40 years of playing the same numbers. Their win marks the latest major prize for the Monbulk newsagency, which has become a lucky spot for lottery players. The total prize of AU$6,490,533.39 will now be shared among the group.
