63 Winners Split South Korea's Largest Lottery Jackpot in History
A record-breaking 63 players have won the Donghang Lottery jackpot in South Korea’s latest draw. Each will take home 419 million won, roughly $302,000 USD. The previous high was 50 winners in June 2022, making this the largest shared jackpot in the game’s history.
The winning numbers for the draw were 1, 5, 8, 16, 28 and 33. Out of the 63 jackpot winners, 52 selected their numbers manually, while 11 relied on the auto-pick system. Five Lotto stores each sold two manual winning tickets.
In addition to the top prize, 77 players secured second place, earning 57.2 million won (around $41,350 USD) each. Another 2,987 players tied for third place, receiving 1.48 million won ($1,070 USD) apiece. The average first-place prize in Korean Lotto is usually around 2 billion won ($1.45 million USD). However, this draw’s payout of 419 million won per winner is still higher than the 409.5 million won ($296,000 USD) shared by 30 winners in May 2013.
This draw marks the first time 63 players have split the top prize in a single Korean Lotto event. The surge in winners means a smaller individual payout compared to the usual average. Still, the jackpot remains one of the largest in the lottery’s recent history.
