Nicolas Béraud re-elected to lead France's push for safer online betting

Nicolas Béraud has been re-elected as president of the Association Française des Jeux en Ligne (AFJEL). The decision was made unanimously at the organisation’s latest general assembly. His leadership will focus on strengthening responsible gambling measures and combating illegal betting in France. Béraud, founder and CEO of Betclic, will push for stricter regulatory and technical standards to reduce gambling-related harm. He also aims to balance fair regulation with player protection, avoiding excessive restrictions. His role will be central in shaping France’s approach to safer online betting.

Alexandre Roos, president of tech firm Winamax, has joined AFJEL as its new vice president. A recent addition to the association, Roos pledged to foster a 'virtuous and responsible' gambling environment. Together, the two leaders will guide AFJEL’s efforts to promote innovation while maintaining strong safeguards. Béraud’s re-election reinforces AFJEL’s commitment to responsible gambling and regulatory improvement. The association will now work to implement stricter controls and fairer policies. Roos’s appointment as vice president adds further industry experience to support these goals.
