Nevada casinos hit $1.29B in April as Strip baccarat and slots surge

Nevada’s casinos saw a strong April, with total gaming revenue climbing to $1.29 billion. This marked a 5.2% increase from the same month last year. However, results varied across different regions and games. The Las Vegas Strip led the growth, bringing in $689.4 million—a 6.5% rise compared to April 2025. Baccarat played a key role, with revenue jumping about 15% despite a 2% drop in the number of bets placed. The baccarat hold rate also improved, reaching 16.5% compared to 14% the previous year. Slot machines on the Strip performed well too, with win and handle both up 5%, hitting $407 million.

Other areas saw mixed results. Downtown Las Vegas reported $83.4 million, a slight dip of 0.62% from $83.9 million in April 2025. This part of the city caters to budget-conscious visitors, offering cheaper rooms and lower food prices than the Strip. Meanwhile, smaller markets thrived: Laughlin’s revenue surged 16.9%, Sparks rose 20.2%, and Reno gained 11.8%. South Lake Tahoe and North Lake Tahoe also saw increases of 10.4% and 6.6%, respectively. Local casinos in Las Vegas had a quieter month. Their slot handle soared by 27.8%, yet slot revenue fell by 1%. Overall, these casinos saw minimal growth, edging up just 0.4%. Mesquite, the Boulder Strip, and North Las Vegas recorded modest gains as well.

April’s figures highlight a mixed picture for Nevada’s gaming industry. While the Strip and smaller markets like Reno and Laughlin posted solid gains, downtown Las Vegas and local casinos showed little movement. The rise in baccarat and slot performance on the Strip suggests strong demand from high rollers and tourists.
