Light & Wonder CEO Barry Cottle steps down as search for successor begins

Light and Wonder has announced the departure of its CEO, Barry Cottle. The company has already begun searching for a permanent replacement while appointing an interim leader in the meantime. Barry Cottle stepped down from his role after leading the gaming and entertainment firm. Jamie Odell, the company’s chair, acknowledged Cottle’s commitment and contributions during his time at Light and Wonder.

The board has started the process of finding a new CEO with support from a top executive recruitment firm. Both internal and external candidates are under consideration. Meanwhile, Matt Willson, the vice president and head of gaming, will take on the interim CEO position. Having worked at the company for more than ten years, Willson expressed confidence in guiding Light and Wonder through this transition.

The firm remains focused on its growth targets, aiming for an annual compound growth rate of around 15% by 2025. With Matt Willson now serving as interim CEO, the company continues its operations while the search for a permanent leader progresses. The recruitment process is ongoing, with no fixed timeline for an announcement.
