International Women's Day 2024 Pushes for Equality and Workplace Diversity

International Women’s Day is being marked around the globe on 8th March. This year’s theme, Better the balance, better the world, is driving conversations about equality in all fields. Events like marches, rallies, and online discussions are bringing together women and their allies to push for change. The cybersecurity industry is increasingly recognising the advantages of gender diversity. Leaders now highlight how varied perspectives strengthen teams and problem-solving. Alongside gender, there’s a growing appreciation for neurodiversity and other differences that enrich workplaces.

Hiring managers and executives are also shifting their focus. Instead of just STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths), many now emphasise STEAM—adding Arts and Social Sciences to the mix. This broader approach aims to attract a wider range of talents and skills. The push for diversity isn’t just theoretical. Across industries, initiatives are being designed and implemented to create more inclusive environments. One consultant, who has travelled extensively for work, has seen these efforts firsthand. As a keynote speaker, author, and advisor, they’ve engaged with thousands of women and men, gathering insights on how diversity drives progress.

The call for balance extends beyond gender. Companies are now valuing different backgrounds, experiences, and ways of thinking. With campaigns like #BalanceforBetter, the message is clear: diversity isn’t just fair—it’s essential for innovation and success.
