Primm Valley Casino Resorts closes forever, ending an era for Nevada's gambling town
Primm Valley Casino Resorts is shutting down for good. The closure marks the end of an era for Primm, a town once known as a bustling gambling destination just outside Las Vegas. Employees have been told their jobs will end by July 4, with no plans to reopen the site. Primm Valley was the last remaining casino in Primm after Whiskey Pete’s and Buffalo Bill’s closed their doors. The town had long served as a quieter alternative to Las Vegas, drawing visitors with its resorts and entertainment. But the pandemic hit hard, and competition from tribal casinos in California pulled even more customers away.
Buffalo Bill’s Resort had already scaled back operations nearly a year ago when Affinity Gaming stopped running it 24/7. Now, the hotel there will take its final bookings this Sunday. As recently as September, Primm Valley was still advertising newly renovated rooms and special experiences, hoping to attract guests. The shutdown leaves questions about the future of scheduled performances. Music and magic acts were booked through July 25, but their fate remains uncertain. Employees received notices confirming their positions will be permanently terminated, with no further work beyond early July.
The closure of Primm Valley Casino Resorts removes the last major gambling venue in Primm. Hundreds of workers will lose their jobs by the start of July. The town, once a lively stop for travellers, now faces an uncertain future without its casino industry.
