Grim Reaper crashes WSOP Europe 2026 after Jeff Platt's antics backfire

The Grim Reaper has taken a surprising interest in the World Series of Poker (WSOP). After years of watching Jeff Platt’s antics, the spectral figure has now set a meeting for the 2026 WSOP Europe. The event, due to start on 3 April at noon, will be streamed live on the WSOP’s YouTube channel. Jeff Platt has become a well-known figure at the WSOP in recent years. His interviews and behaviour have caught the attention of even the Grim Reaper, who initially found them amusing. Over time, however, the imitation and antics have grown tiresome.

The Reaper has warned that Platt toys with forces beyond his understanding. Despite this, safe passage has been granted to all players travelling to Prague for the tournament. Even Chris Moneymaker, the 2003 WSOP champion, has reportedly tried to avoid Platt during the Main Event, fearing his notorious bad luck. Platt isn’t the first poker figure to draw the Reaper’s attention. Wild Bill Hickok once reneged on a deal with the spectral entity—and, according to legend, paid the price. Meanwhile, professional player Shaun Deeb treats Platt like any other fan, though he occasionally jokes about his infamous luck. The 2026 WSOP Europe Main Event begins on 3 April at 12pm local time. The Grim Reaper has already confirmed attendance, ensuring the event will be one to remember.

The 2026 WSOP Europe will now include an unusual guest: the Grim Reaper. Platt’s meeting with the figure is set, and the tournament’s live stream will capture the event. Whether luck—or something more ominous—plays a role remains to be seen.
