Court upholds Kim Nguyen's ban from The Star Sydney casino

A legal bid by Kim Nguyen to overturn her ban from The Star Sydney casino has failed. The NSW Supreme Court dismissed her claim on Monday, ruling she had no valid grounds for action. Nguyen had also sought to recover AU$950,000 (US$659,600) lost at the venue. Nguyen was verbally banned from The Star Sydney in April 2022. The restriction stopped her from taking up a job as a travel host at the casino.

She later filed a claim with the NSW Supreme Court, aiming to revoke the ban and reclaim her gambling losses. Justice Joanne Harrison examined the case before delivering her verdict.

On Monday, the court ruled against Nguyen. Justice Harrison stated that her arguments did not form a viable legal case. As a result, Nguyen was ordered to cover The Star’s legal costs. The dismissal ends Nguyen’s attempt to lift the ban or recover her funds. She must now pay the casino’s expenses from the failed legal challenge. The decision leaves The Star’s ban in place.
