Will he manage to join the training session on time? - A prominent FCS player required surgery.
But for defender Dominik Becker (24) of 1. FC Saarbrücken, it's a race against the clock...
In the Saarland Cup final against FC Homburg (2:1), he experienced a nasty shoulder joint dislocation (AC joint luxation Tossy III). This injury was later confirmed at the hospital through X-rays and ultrasound. Becker was quickly operated on by team physician Dr. Markus Pahl, allowing him to leave the hospital on Sunday and begin his rehab.
Assuming everything goes smoothly, Becker (contract valid until 2025) could potentially return in time for the June 25th training start. Additionally, Patrick Schmidt (30) and Bjarne Thoelke (31), who have been sidelined due to injuries, are expected to join in. Sebastian Jacob (30), another key player, is set to be present as well, although a decision about renewing his contract won't be made until at least August.
In the preseason, Saarbrücken will face off against Bundesliga-relegated Darmstadt. Their encounter will take place on July 20th in Herxheim with coach Rüdiger Ziehl's (46) squad.
