Las Vegas man arrested for drunk driving celebrates police academy graduation
Chasen Bradford is understandably happy to graduate from the police academy in Henderson, Nevada, on March 21, but celebrating a day later by driving drunk is not a better idea .
According to the arrest report, on Friday at 10:20 p.m., a Henderson woman called 911 to report that a gray Ford pickup truck was "traveling down the road," "hit a median," and "hit roadside".
The officer who stopped Bradford said he smelled the odor of alcohol coming from the truck, the report said. He said he also observed "six out of six possible signs of impairment" during a series of field sobriety tests on Bradford, including an inability to stand on one leg.
Bradford's breathalyzer test result was 0.104, more than 26 percent higher than Nevada's legal blood-alcohol level of 0.08. Although Bradford initially told police he had only had two beers, he later admitted to drinking "five or six" throughout the day.
He was taken into custody and transported to the Henderson Detention Center where he shot .094 and .098.
Bradford, 34, has been a recruit with the Henderson Police Department since September 2023. He graduated from the academy on Saturday, earning the title of probation officer along with 14 others.
Bradford was charged with driving while intoxicated and was released Saturday on $2,000 bail.
After his arrest, he was immediately released permanently.
"Drunk driving poses a serious danger to our community and will not be tolerated by the Henderson Police Department," Henderson Police Chief Holly Chadwick wrote in a letter posted on the department's Facebook page. Behavior."

Bradford hopes police work will be his follow-up career in professional baseball. He appeared in 86 games as a pitcher from 2017 to 2019, including one year with the New York Mets and then two years with the Seattle Mariners.

Under the terms of his bail, Bradford cannot drink alcohol, use controlled substances or marijuana. He cannot be arrested again or face criminal charges.
Bradford is scheduled to be arraigned April 22 in Henderson Municipal Court.
