Shiba Inu's Developer Outlines Plan for LEASH v2 Transfer Strategy

In a bid to restore fairness and trust amongst LEASH holders, the Shiba Inu team has presented a migration plan. The strategy aims to chart a path out of the rebase controversy that has been a source of concern for many in the cryptocurrency community.

The migration plan combines a ratio-based conversion with targeted snapshots to protect long-term investors. This ratio-based conversion is calculated by dividing the token's intended supply by its current, post-rebase supply. This ensures that holders who never sold are made whole, while those who sold receive proportionally reduced amounts.

Snapshots will be used in specific cases where rebases complicate liquidity accounting, particularly for Uniswap V3 and ShibaSwap V2 liquidity providers. They will be applied "surgically where they're the correct tool" to ensure no tokens are trapped in pools.

The migration approach also seeks to honor long-term holders, reduce sellers, and remain auditable. The migration framework is designed to be transparent and verifiable. A self-service portal will be available for users whose exchanges opt out of the migration.

Key decisions like migration cutoffs and leftover burns will be finalized by community vote in a DAO-led future. Some parameters of the migration, such as the cutoff date for unclaimed v2 tokens, will be decided by the DAO.

The lead developer, Kaal Dhairya, addressed the challenges posed by LEASH v1's unexpected rebases in his latest blog post. He highlighted the need for a migration plan to ensure fairness and trust among the LEASH community.

Not all centralized exchanges have committed to supporting the Shiba Inu migration. However, Crypto.com and Gate.io have been commended for their diligence and helpfulness in reviewing the migration plan.

It's important to note that the migration plan does not affect the need for users to conduct their own research and consult with a qualified financial adviser before making investment decisions.

The migration strategy gives venues a viable way to support Shiba Inu holders. The Shiba Inu team hopes that this plan will repair trust while preserving fairness during the migration process.

The final shape of the migration remains in the hands of the Shiba Inu community. The team encourages everyone to participate in the decision-making process to ensure a fair and transparent migration for all LEASH holders.
