Manchester United secures record £20m training-kit deal with Betway
Manchester United are on the verge of finalising a landmark training-kit sponsorship with betting firm Betway. The multi-year deal, worth around £20 million annually, would mark the club’s first dedicated training wear partnership. If confirmed, it will become the most lucrative training-kit-only agreement in football history. The club has never before had a sponsor for its training range, making this a fresh revenue stream. The timing aligns with upcoming Premier League rules, which will ban gambling logos from match shirts starting in the 2026/27 season. Betway, previously West Ham’s front-of-shirt sponsor from 2015 to 2025, now shifts focus to training wear.
Manchester United’s financial position has seen recent improvements. They reported an operating profit of £37.7 million for the nine months ending March 2026, reversing a £3.2 million loss from the same period a year earlier. However, the club still carries significant debt, with long-term borrowing of £483 million and short-term loans totalling £262.5 million.
The £20 million annual value of the Betway deal remains below their current front-of-shirt sponsorship with Snapdragon, which brings in £60 million per year. Earlier this year, the club also spent £16.7 million to settle contracts with former manager Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff after their January departure. The Betway partnership would boost Manchester United’s commercial income while adapting to new Premier League sponsorship rules. Though the deal is smaller than their main shirt sponsorship, it adds a significant new revenue source. The club continues to balance financial growth against its existing debt obligations.
