Khabarovsk's Biblionight 2026 unites Russia through culture and storytelling

Khabarovsk will host Biblionight 2026, a vibrant celebration of Russia’s cultural diversity. The event aligns with the Year of National Unity, as declared by President Vladimir Putin. Libraries across the city have prepared a rich programme filled with performances, workshops, and interactive activities for all ages. The festivities begin on April 17, 2026, at the Navolochkin Regional Children’s Library. Young visitors will enjoy sand animation workshops and craft sessions focused on Mezen wooden horses. Later, a discussion with writer Yelena Nemenko and artist Andrey Ten will explore modern book publishing and illustration techniques.

The Far Eastern State Scientific Library will serve as the main venue, staying open from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Guests can experience animated films about Russia’s diverse peoples, attend the puppet show Telunge: Magical Tales, or play Ethno-Puzzles, a board game centred on cultural heritage. Meanwhile, the Khabarovsk Regional Puppet Theater will stage a magical performance based on traditional folk tales.

Technology will also play a role, with an AI-driven activity allowing participants to step into the world of Dmitry Nagishkin’s fairy tales. At the Gaidar Library, the Night of Unity: Books Bring Russia’s Peoples Together event will highlight international friendship through literature, reinforcing the evening’s theme of cultural connection. Biblionight 2026 will showcase Khabarovsk’s ethnocultural traditions through storytelling, crafts, and digital experiences. The event aims to bring communities together, celebrating Russia’s unity through literature and the arts. Activities will run across multiple libraries, offering something for every visitor.
