Hannahville Tribe Relaunches Online Gaming in Michigan with New Partner
The Hannahville Indian Community has secured approval to relaunch its online gaming and sports betting platform in Michigan. The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) gave the green light on Tuesday, 7 February 2023, marking a key shift in the tribe’s digital operations.
The tribe first entered Michigan’s online gaming market in January 2021 as one of the state’s initial ten licensed operators. Their platform originally ran under Twin Spires, but that partnership ended when Twin Spires exited Michigan’s market. Since then, the Hannahville tribe has transitioned to a new provider.
888 Holdings, through its subsidiary VHL Michigan LLC, was approved as the tribe’s new platform partner. The company had already taken over the tribe’s sports betting operations in September 2022. Now, it will also manage the online casino, branded under the Sports Illustrated name. This change makes the Hannahville tribe the first operator in Michigan to switch platform providers since online gaming and sports betting launched in the state. MGCB executive director Henry Williams acknowledged the tribe’s ongoing success in the sector, highlighting their compliance with state regulations.
The approval took effect at 8 a.m. on 7 February 2023, allowing the tribe to resume online gaming under the new partnership. All operations remain under the oversight of the Michigan Gaming Control Board, ensuring compliance with state gaming laws.
