Casino Queen Marquette Wins Approval for Major Relocation and Expansion
Casino Queen Marquette has won approval to relocate from its Mississippi River site. The move will expand the venue and introduce new facilities. Owned by Queen Casino and Entertainment, the 17,514-square-foot riverboat casino has operated since 2009. Iowaβs gambling laws once restricted bets to $5 and limited losses to $200 per session. Those rules changed before 1991, paving the way for larger casinos. In 2004, the state allowed barges to be moored in man-made pools instead of floating on rivers.
The casino currently offers 566 slot machines, eight gaming tables, and weekend poker. Its first deck provides smoke-free gaming aboard the Miss Marquette. Now, the venue plans to grow further. At the new site on 100 Anti Monopoly Street in the Driftless Region, the casino will add 12,000 square feet. This expansion will create a 17,000-square-foot gaming area with over 400 slots and two blackjack tables. A new main entrance, dining spaces, and a sports bar are also planned. The casino sits beside a 31-hectare lot featuring a marina and an indoor pavilion. The relocation marks a shift away from its original river-based location.
The expanded casino will offer more gaming options and amenities. The move to Anti Monopoly Street allows for a larger, modernised venue. Construction will include new dining areas and a sports bar alongside the updated casino floor.
