Revealed by BILD: - Wavering prospects for potential Nagelsmann nominees.
It's official now!
German coach Julian Nagelsmann (36) has unveiled the national team squad for the upcoming European Championship in Berlin.
The squad consisted of 27 players, which makes sense as one player will be left out. The tournament begins on June 14 with the opening match against Scotland (8:45pm on ARD, MagentaTV, and here in the live ticker).
Nagelsmann, during the initial press conference regarding his extended squad, said, "It's simple: We need a good training team, we want to have sensible training with good players. We also have test matches." The coach did not reveal the names of the players who might not make it to the final cut.
Furthermore, Maxi Beier (21, TSG Hoffenheim) is still unsure about his inclusion in the final squad for the European Championship. Although he joined the squad in March and has yet to make his international debut, he is still in consideration.
Nagelsmann also confirmed that he will start the tournament with four goalkeepers - Manuel Neuer, Marc-André ter Stegen, Oliver Baumann, and Alexander Nübel.
Late nominations are possible if there's an injury among the players. However, this can only happen until 24 hours before the first group game starts.
Before the conference, various names were already disclosed through the media, celebrities, influencers, and fans. At a concert, for instance, the DFB announced Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz (21) under the banner "Our team for Germany." The DFB aims to create European Championship fervor and take soccer Germany along for the ride.
