VEGAS MUSIC ROUNDUP: Sphere Goes EDM for NYE, Eagles Extend, Barry Recommits

For the highest-tech concert venue in the world, the Vegas Sphere sure has made some low-tech bookings ... until now.

On New Year’s Eve, Anyma will become the first electronic dance music (EDM) act to play the spherical wonderland. The Italian producer (born Matteo Milleri) is one half of the dance duo Tale of Us.

The booking makes sense, not only because of the Sphere’s beyond-advanced visual and audio tech, but because Las Vegas has quietly become the EDM capital of the world thanks to the Electric Daisy Carnival and a year-round circuit of club residencies.

Anyma announced his “The End of Genesys” performance with a 3D video of a giant robot breaking out of the venue’s LED display on Monday.

“I’m honored to be the first electronic artist to play the Sphere,” Anyma said in a statement. “We’re already months into the development of the show and I can’t wait to unveil to everyone what we have planned.”

Tickets can be purchased starting Tuesday, July 23 at 9 a.m. PT via livenationentertainment.com, with a presale on July 22. (Register here.)

The (Very) Long Run

Speaking of low-tech Sphere bookings, The Eagles have stretched their originally announced eight nights into 20 with the addition of four more shows in January. The complete list of Eagles shows is now as follows:

  • September 20-21
  • September 27-28
  • October 11-12
  • October 18-19
  • November 1-2
  • November 8-9
  • December 6-7
  • December 13-14
  • January 17-18
  • January 24-25

At a July 4 event at the Sphere, owner James Dolan said the band is welcome to play as many dates as they like — until they start fighting and break up again. (We made up that last part, but it’s probably true.)

The new shows go on sale at 9 a.m. PT Friday, July 26 at eagles.com.

Hart Keeps Beat

Comedian Kevin Hart has enlisted his friends Lil Wayne and Ludacris to help him headline “Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat Weekend,” a four-day cavalcade of Labor Day Weekend events at Resorts World that includes a celebrity poker tournament, music performances, day and night parties, and, of course, comedy.

Lil Wayne and Ludacris will headline the Zouk Nightclub afterparties on August 31 and September 1. Tickets are on sale here right now.

Barry Makes it Through the Reign

Barry Manilow smashed Elvis Presley’s record of 636 performances (not 837), to become the new king of the Westgate’s International Theater last September.

Yet he has no plans to stop. He’s just booked himself the venue for another entire year. His new shows run Thursdays through Saturdays from February 13-15 through December 11-13. (There are no concerts in July, though, presumably so Barry doesn’t melt.)

Tickets go on sale Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m. P.T. via WestgateResorts.com.

The news of Anyma's EDM performance at the Vegas Sphere has sparked interest in electronic music fans, as they now anticipate experiencing his show at the high-tech casino venue. Meanwhile, Kevin Hart's friends Lil Wayne and Ludacris are set to perform at the Zouk Nightclub in Resorts World, contributing to an exciting lineup of Labor Day Weekend events.
