Vegas Crime Update: Prostitution Arrests at Massage Establishment, Collisions Near Strip

Police in Las Vegas arrested the proprietor of a massage parlor named Oasis Spa, situated at 4780 W. Tropicana Avenue. Law enforcement authorities maintain that the business is actually a brothel.

Cuixiao Ma, the owner, was taken into custody on charges of facilitating prostitution and gaining from a prostitute's earnings. As per local TV station reports, she was released from jail following her February 1st arrest.

The investigation into the business started last May after police received a tip about the spa's dealings. In September, they served a notice to the establishment, reminding the owners that prostitution is prohibited. The owners didn't respond to the notice, according to the authorities.

In January, undercover police officers conducted a sting operation at the spa. During the operation, an undercover cop posed as a customer. When the female worker asked him if he wanted a "good massage", he inquired about the price for sex.

Upon discovering condoms and other similar items during the raid, several people were taken into custody.

In Las Vegas, brothels are deemed illegal.

A motorist being chased by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) cruisers crashed into several taxi cabs in Las Vegas on Wednesday near the Strip. The incident took place at around 4:30 p.m. close to Tropicana Avenue and Paradise Road.

The police later managed to catch the driver. His name wasn't immediately revealed. The vehicle he was driving allegedly had been reported stolen, as reported by KTNV, a local TV station.

No severe injuries were recorded from the collisions. However, there were several traffic jams due to the accidents.

Alexander Jay Dawkins, who crashed his vehicle on the Las Vegas Strip last Friday, seems to have dozed off at the wheel before the accident, as per police. The car Dawkins was driving struck a palm tree in a median divider.

A LVMPD officer's report released on Thursday noted that he witnessed Dawkins "appearing to be pushing the accelerator on the vehicle as the engine was revving and the tires were spinning", according to KLAS, a local TV station.

When officers conversed with Dawkins at University Medical Center, he could not recall the specifics about the crash, noted KLAS.

One LVMPD officer mentioned in the report that Dawkins' eyes "appeared to be watery and droopy" when he talked to him. Dawkins sustained injuries in the crash. According to news reports, he lost consciousness.

He was charged with driving under the influence, failing to maintain a travel lane or improper lane change, and not providing proof of insurance.

Cuixiao Ma, seen in the mug shot above, was arrested after an undercover officer investigated a spa that allegedly was operating as a brothel.
