Experience the excitement of handball as you take part in this thrilling sport! - Thuringian HC experiences defeat in last game against Metzingen

Thuringer HC's women's handball team had a disappointing end to their season, suffering a loss with a score of 28-29 against TuS Metzingen. The defeat came in front of 1,373 spectators, and it marked the fourth home loss for the team coached by Herbert Müller. Despite the loss, Johanna Reichert managed to score twelve goals and was the team's top scorer. The THC ended the season in third place with 39:13 points, ensuring their qualification for the European League once again.

National player Annika Lott made a much-anticipated return to the team after two and a half months on the sidelines due to injury. Her inclusion in the lineup didn't help the Thuringians in the first half, as they were constantly on the back foot against the resilient visitors. Metzingen's pinpoint shots from the wing positions coupled with their ability to quickly defend and counter-attack caused issues for THC. At 8:10 (17th minute), Müller decided to call a timeout and make defensive changes. The move paid off, and the home side started to find their footing, leveling the score at 13-13 by the break.

In the second half, Reichert and Lott applied pressure in defense, but the technical mistakes from the THC held them back from pulling away. The attack became more disjointed as the game progressed and Metzingen kept their cool, opening up a 24:22 lead in the 50th minute.

Despite Reichert's best efforts to rally the team, the Thuringians failed to capitalize on their opportunities. Metzingen stayed composed and ultimately took home the victory.

The THC women's handball team may face some major changes in the near future, as they will be losing eight players. Those leaving the club include Annika Lott, Nicole Roth, Sonja Frey, Yuki Tanabe, Sara Rönningen, Vilma Matthijs Holmberg, Johanna Stockschläder, and Jennifer Rode.
