Announcement of a choice is imminent - The jurors at the Trump trial have arrived at a decision.
The Manhattan court revealed this information on Thursday. A decision is expected soon.
🔺 For over a month, starting in mid-April, the jury composed of seven men and five women have been listening to witness testimonies. The jurors have been deliberating since Wednesday. The prosecution claims that Trump attempted to boost his chances of winning the 2016 election by offering $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels, and then falsifying financial documents related to his payment to his previous lawyer, Michael Cohen, to disguise the actual purpose of the transaction.
While the payment itself wasn’t unlawful, Trump is charged with tampering with records related to his payment to Cohen to hide the real intent of the transaction. This would make him guilty in 34 instances of illegal campaign practices. Trump's defense team stated that it was simply related to regular lawyer fees.
If found guilty, Trump could potentially face several years in prison, though it could be suspended, or he could be fined. The final decision on sentencing would be made by Judge Juan Merchan at a later date. Even in the event of a valid conviction, Trump has the option to file an appeal. If successful, he could still run for president in November.
