The German Football Association securures a sponsorship deal with Tipico for the DFB Cup competition.

The German Football Association (DFB) has sealed a partnership with gambling brand Tipico. This partnership, set to last until June 30, 2026, covers both the men's and women's football matches in the German Cup.

Tipico Joins as DFB Cup Sponsor

The DFB and popular gambling company Tipico have inked a deal for sponsorship of the football matches in the DFB Cup. Beginning from the upcoming season, Tipico will be authorized to display the DFB Cup logo in its physical outlets and on its digital platform. The Tipico logo will also be prominent on advertising boards in football stadiums, digital channels, and social media platforms of the DFB during the games of the DFB Cup.

Dr. Holger Blask, CEO of DFB GmbH & Co. KG, gave his thoughts on the new sponsorship agreement with Tipico:

Tipico isn't the only sports sponsorship for the gambling provider. In the previous year, Tipico entered into an agreement with NASCAR's motorsport federation.

Gambling Providers as Sports Sponsors

Gambling providers have become more common as sports sponsors in recent times. Sports sponsorship serves as an effective method for companies to reach their target audience. However, partnerships between sports clubs and gambling providers face criticism and controversy. Addiction experts fear that gambling advertising could fuel gambling addiction.

Despite this, online casinos and betting providers are increasingly becoming partners in various sports sectors. Last year, gambling brand Interwetten signed a marketing contract with FC Bayern Munich's basketball team. Internationally, gambling companies have also stepped up their sponsorship activities. Providers Betano and Betfair have recently expanded their sponsorship activities in Brazil and Argentina.

With Tipico, the DFB has managed to secure one of Germany's most recognized gambling brands as a partnership partner. The future will tell if this partnership extends beyond the 2025/2026 season.

In light of the partnership with the DFB, Tipico is now visible as the sponsor of the DFB Cup games, both online and in physical locations across Germany. With Tipico's logo displayed prominently during the matches, online casinos in Germany now have a strong presence in sports sponsorships.
