Simone Ballack (48) and her hotelier husband Heiko Grote (56) have been apart for a week, trying to figure out the direction they want their future to take.
Recently, Ballack shared a picture of herself strolling arm in arm with an older gentleman on the pier of Lake Garda. She captioned the photo, "The most breathtaking spot at Lake Garda. Enjoying food, drinks, and most importantly, letting my soul wander..."
Is the mystery man a provocation during this separation?
Heiko Grote, who is in Marbella with his two children from his first marriage (12, 16) while hanging out with friends and prepping for eleven upcoming hotel openings, doesn't seem too concerned about the post.
Is the photo an attempt to stir up trouble while they're on a break from their relationship? "Nope. Simone isn't playing games with me. We're both too old for that. We don't need it."
Ballack Has No Desire to Move Back to Munich
Now focusing on the complete overhaul of the Grote Hotel "Elisa" at Lake Garda, which was set to reopen with a new name this week, Simone claims she's not interested in going back to Munich. "I could easily picture myself living at Lake Garda. Munich is just too overwhelming nowadays. People there know everything and love to gossip. Here, everything remains in order."
On the flip side, Heiko is tired of Lake Garda. "I won't go back until the hotel is done. The whole process of working with the unpredictable Italians is way too aggravating. Simone's currently dealing with the craftsmen herself."
Do you miss her? Grote avoids the question, stating, "We're not battling it out, but we both need peace and some distance to think about how we can be better partners. We keep in touch by calling daily and exchanging messages."
Ballack and Grote are in different life stages, brimming with energy, and self-reliant decision-makers. Grote preaches, "We're not only simple people. Things can change."
Is there any hope for a reconciliation? "Simone and I had ten great months. The future will reveal what will happen."
