SBC Awards 2018: All about the London-based awards event
Last week, the winners of the yearly SBG Awards were announced in London. This industry award is given out to reward exceptional practices and new products from the sports betting and casino industries. Many well-known companies and fresh newcomers received accolades at the event. Hosted by the Sports Betting Community Limited, it took place at the Honourable Artillery Company's premises.
The SBC Events team, responsible for organizing numerous industry events for the sports betting sector, extended an invitation to the 2018 SBC Awards event last week. Despite not being a monetary prize, the ceremony celebrates innovative, rising enterprises, and enhances their visibility.
Awards galore for bookmakers and betting service providers
Naturally, most of the SBG Awards were given to bookmakers and betting service providers. However, one notable exception was Mr Green, a Swedish casino operator who began offering sports betting in 2016, winning the prize for the best newcomer in the betting industry. Their new real-time widgets, broadcasting game data, made the difference. Bet365, a seasoned company, won awards for both the Bookmaker of the Year and the best football bookmaker.
In addition to these, William Hill also won two awards. They received recognition as the best bookmaker for racing and the top one in retail business. As pioneers in eSports, Betway was also acknowledged with an accolade. The Kindred Group, replete with brands like Unibet, were hailed as the most responsible betting company.
Praise for platform providers and software suppliers
Two awards were conferred on SG Digital, a platform provider birthed from the amalgamation of Scientific Games and NYX Gaming. Their innovative product OpenBet Sportsbook, bestowing live betting, led to their acknowledgment for the best live betting product, as well as being declared the best independent platform provider.
"We're thrilled to have claimed these two titles at the SBC Awards. This recognition acknowledges the relentless efforts of our entire team over the past year. This affirmation not only demonstrates our endeavors to propel the sports betting industry ahead with product creativity, but also underscores our pledge to instill players with reliable technology." – Keith O'Loughlin, Senior Vice President of Sportsbook at SG Digital
High honors for payment service providers, online casino operators, and game developers
Trustly bagged the award for innovations in payment methods, fraud prevention, and compliance solutions for the year. As for the gaming department, Play'n GO, a Swedish group of game developers, won the Game Developer of the Year award.
"Creating the best games is crucial for us, and our game developers' acknowledgment proves that we're on track with our promises. It bolsters the casino industry's faith in us, crowns a successful and prosperous year for us, and I'd like to express my gratitude to everyone at Play'n GO for their unwavering efforts and commitment."
At the event, Evolution Gaming's specialized studios received the Innovation Award for Live Games. Lightning Roulette, a game that combines roulette and randomly generated lucky numbers, blew away the judges. Apart from them, LeoVegas was awarded the title of the best online casino, and Yggdrasil earned the Best Gaming Innovator Award.
The SBC Awards, inaugurated in 2015, arose from the Betting on Football Awards of 2014. They're widely regarded as the industry's most influential jury, sponsorships, and participants. They're an ideal source for showcasing game-changing manufacturers and their ground-breaking ideas. Already, SBC Events 2019 has confirmed five conferences. Unfortunately, the date for the following SBC Awards announcement is yet to be unveiled.
