Nomination for an Oscar leads to coveted role - Sandra Hüller seizes Ryan Gosling
Sandra Hüller's career in Hollywood is skyrocketing! She came close to winning an Oscar for best leading role this year but didn't take home the prize. Instead, her career only flourished more.
Interestingly, Ryan Gosling, who was also nominated for his part in "Barbie", met her at the Oscars. Like Sandra, he left empty-handed that night. Now, they're set to star together in an upcoming sci-fi flick.
The details about this project aren't out yet. It's an adaptation of Andy Weir's novel, which was also the basis for "The Martian" (starring Matt Damon in the lead role). In Germany, the book is titled "Project Hail Mary."
The movie follows a teacher who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of his past or how he got there. He soon realizes that he must save Earth from a pending catastrophe. Along the way, he meets a secretive alien who also wants to safeguard their own species.
After her successful performances in "The Zone of Interest" (awarded the Foreign Oscar) and "Anatomy of a Case" (winning the Golden Palm at Cannes in 2023), Hüller's latest role will be a significant one.
With her continued success, it likely won't be too long before she claims her first Oscar win.
Ryan Gosling, a seasoned actor, has never won an Oscar, despite being nominated three times. Still, he's been a force in the film industry for years, with numerous hits under his belt since his "Barbie" days.
The release date for their project is still undetermined. The rest of the cast hasn't been announced either. Meanwhile, US theatres are expecting the film on March 20, 2026.
