Forty-five flaws discovered! - Police remove scrap vehicle from busy road
The authorities noticed a suspicious Fiat Ducato van on the A8 highway heading to Luxembourg in Saarland. It had aluminum sheets covering where the rear windows should be. When the officers stopped the van in Dillingen's sports hall's parking lot, they were surprised to find rusted-through load-bearing components and a broken leaf spring.
The vehicle also had tires of various sizes, some of which were almost worn out. The police said, "Some of the tires were completely worn out."
The two people inside the van - a 52-year-old German citizen and a 45-year-old French national - were not allowed to proceed with their journey, and the vehicle was immobilized.
An expert from a testing facility confirmed that the Fiat was in no condition to be driven. With an inspection, he discovered 45 issues on the van's bodywork, steering, and front axle - some of these could have had significant consequences for road safety.
The police stated, "The examination of the undercarriage showed such an advanced level of rust penetration that we could see into the vehicle from the workshop pit."
Several misconduct charges were brought against the men, who were, on a commercial level, collecting used garments from trash cans. Additionally, the police informed the main customs office in Saarbrücken about the possibility of illegal employment.
