Schott Mainz triumphs in the Southwest Cup, guaranteeing their participation in the primary phase of the DFB Cup. They won 4:1 (2:0) against SV Gonsenheim from the same-named Mainz area of Ingelheim on Saturday. The goals for the dominating squad were found by Birkan Celik (30'), Nils Fischer (34'), Nicklas Schlosser (68'), and Tim Müller (78' penalty spot). Maurice Neukirch (87' penalty) created a goal for the consolation.

This marked Schott Mainz's third consecutive final victory and their third period in the DFB Cup. In the 2022/23 season, they were overpowered by Hannover 96, with a 3-0 loss. In the present season, they suffered a 6-1 defeat at the hands of Borussia Dortmund.
