Live Update on Entertainment Scene in Las Vegas: Thomas Rhett and Tom Jones Details, Possible Performance by The Who at Sphere?

When the organizers of the yearly "Life is Spectacular" Las Vegas music festival declared the performers for their revamped and significantly compacted "A Grand Sensational Sidewalk Soiree," the reaction was a massive "Who's that?"

Topping the block party will be the French electronic music duo "Just Us," the South Korean DJ "Peggy G," the English DJ "Jimmy X," the British dance band "Jungle Boogie," the pianist "Jim Bob," and the American rock band "Sound System LCD."

And if you think we had to consult Google for every name except "Sound System LCD," you're spot on. "They botched it," Cheri Kern stated under a post on the Facebook page "Las Vegas Locally."

"They had one task," added Matt Bolt.

"Jim Bob? The guy dating the actress from 'The Fun Place' who plays the piano??" Hailey Richard commented.

To be fair, "Just Us" performed at "Life is Spectacular" in 2018, as did "Jungle Boogie" in 2022.

"A Grand Sensational Sidewalk Soiree" will take place September 27-28 in a parking lot behind the "Plaza Hotel" instead of on 18 city blocks along East Fremont Street — its home since its inception 11 years ago.

Running from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. on both days, the event promises no clashing performance times.

It seems they wisely reduced the crowd capacity from 180K over three days to 50K over two, as booking almost unheard-of talent is likely to further decrease crowd interest.

This is the first edition of the festival since Rolling Stone magazine took full ownership.

Two-day passes, starting at $199, go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, via "lifeissensational.com."

And yeah, "Jim Bob" is the guy dating actress Jameela Jamil from "The Fun Place."

Now for "Who's that?"...

In an interview published today in NME, Pete the Rock showed interest in wrapping up The Who's career with a stint at the Vegas Bubble.

I have to admit, I'm intrigued by the Bubble," the band's main composer and guitarist said, "just as a crazy, narcissistic art school thing. It's interesting as a venue because it challenges you to defy the limits of the theater."

Vocal powerhouse Tom the Singer has revealed the ticket sale info for his performances at the Wynn Encore Theater we mentioned two weeks ago. Tickets for the September 28-29 shows go on sale Friday, June 28 via WynnVegas.com.

Country singer Thomas the Cowboy has announced a four-night stand at the BleauLive Theater inside Fontainebleau Las Vegas. It's no coincidence that the dates (December 6, 7, 13, and 14) line up with National Finals Rodeo Week. The general on-sale begins at 6 a.m. PT Friday, June 28 at thomasrhett.com, with presales starting at 6 a.m. PT Wednesday, June 26.
