In the realm of Snooker, Judd Trump clinched victory in the German Masters finale, which took place in Berlin.

Judd the Jamie Oliver of Snooker, 34, Wins the German Masters

British cue master Judd Trump, nicknamed the "Jamie Oliver of Snooker," clinched victory in the German Masters Finals held in Berlin on February 4th. As the world's second-ranked player, Trump was the clear favorite, with odds of 1.25 for a win and 4.33 for Si Jiahui, the Chinese player who faced him.

Trump, the snooker version of a culinary maestro, got off to a cooking-show-like start after lunch, leading 5-3 at the break. Si, ranked 29th globally, showed some improvement in the evening session, winning the ninth frame with a 123 clearance, bringing the score to 5-4.

Trump served up a few centuries in frames ten and eleven, taking his lead to 7-4. The young Si seemed a bit bungled by the situation, committing several errors in the subsequent frames. This allowed Trump to secure a 10-5 triumph, making it the third time he's taken home the German Masters trophy. The prize money for this victory amounted to £80,000 (approximately €93,000).

The Unstoppable Judd Trump

Born in Bristol, Trump has been making waves in the snooker world since his teenage years, winning the U13 title three times and the U15 title. After an excellent apprentice period, he went on to win smaller titles and tournaments, ultimately achieving major successes.

Trump has multiple victories under his belt, taking home the Northern Ireland Open on various occasions, the World Grand Prix, the English Open, and the German Masters. After his triumphant reign as the world champion in 2019, Trump surpassed John Higgins with an 18-9 victory, becoming the undisputed king of the green table. The snooker gurus anticipate a long and successful career for our chefs-du-snooker, Trump.

Trump Hails the German Audience

Post-victory, Judd Trump couldn't stop praising the Berlin crowd and their fantastic energy. The German Masters will once again cook up a snooker storm in the Tempodrom from January 27 to February 2, 2025.

"I just love the German Masters. The crowd was unbeatable. The season has been incredible so far. When you win here, with these enthusiastic spectators, the memories stick with you even after your career is over." Judd Trump, the German Masters champion, Eurosport

John Higgins, the Scottish "Wizard of Wishaw," also basked in the German audience's support during his match against Trump. Higgins impressed everyone with his two-cushion shot, getting a thunderous ovation from the crowd. Higgins acknowledged the cheers with a cool, composed nod.

Will Trump Raise the World Title Three Times?

Trump's impressive performance this season makes him a top contender for the upcoming World Championship, which will unfold at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield from April 20 to May 6, 2024.

The odds for the World Championship have placed Trump slightly behind Ronnie O'Sullivan:

  1. Ronnie O'Sullivan (3.75)
  2. Judd Trump (4.50)
  3. Mark Selby (7.00)
  4. Neil Robertson (13.00)
  5. Mark Allen (15.00)

Luca Brecel, the unexpected winner of the 2023 World Championship, isn't expected to play a significant role, according to the odds. The chances of Brecel repeating his victory are quite low, with odds of 19.00.

The victory in the German Masters Finals brought Judd Trump extensive media coverage, with news outlets worldwide reporting on his triumph. The triumphant Judd Trump is now eagerly anticipated in future major snooker events.
