In Baden-Baden, the Second German Dealer Championship is underway: Who among Germany's dealers holds the title for excellence?
From April 9 to 11, 2024, the second German Dealer Championship (GDC) is set to take place at Casino Baden-Baden. This year-long event will feature various competitions, judged by a panel, with victors in the two primary events qualifying for the European Dealer Championship.
Searching for Seven Masters
The official event website has provided a glimpse into the championship's proceedings. The main events, American Roulette and Black Jack, will be joined by five side events, namely Best Chipper, Best Card Handler, Best Chip Arranger, Best Stack Pusher, and Best Mathematician.
As per the guidelines, the croupiers competing in the primary events will be judged based on various factors:
- Personality: This aspect encompasses the dealer's friendly interaction with players, along with their aptitude in answering questions accurately.
- Skill: This aspect spotlights the dealer's grace and precision, demonstrating capabilities like handling cards and stacking chips smoothly.
- Game mastery: It's essential that the dealer maintains control over the game's steady progression, minimizing any interruptions like looking away from the table.
Who will grace the German Dealer Championship?
The list of dealers participating in the GDC remains unofficial. There have, however, been preliminary qualifier rounds in several locations, including Baden-Württemberg, where contestants vie for a spot.
On March 12, a competition was even held among Merkur Spielbanken dealers in North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony-Anhalt to select two representatives for each region.
Reminiscing 2023: Tobias Hellberg is the reigning German champion
The inaugural German Dealer Championship took place in 2023, hosting 22 participants. The event unfolded at Casio Schenefeld near Hamburg, where Tobias Hellberg emerged victorious.
Back then, the Blackjack and Roulette categories were still combined into a single competition, resulting in an overall winner who was awarded a sizable trophy and a 10,000 euro prize.
An additional motivation for the victors
Becoming the German Dealer Championship's champion will already be an enormous achievement for the discipline-specific winners. A prize pool will undoubtedly be rewarded as well. However, that's not the end of the challenge.
The victors of the key events will also be granted an opportunity to participate in the European Dealer Championship from June 3 to 6, 2024, in Venlo, Netherlands. This is where they will face off against Europe's top croupiers to test their skills at the highest level.
