Illicit Gambling Den Busted: Police Crack Down on clandestine Casino in Georgia

A Georgia billiards bar was stormed this week due to accusations of unlawful gambling, resulting in the detainment of 10 individuals.

Local law enforcement, tipped off about shady activity within Sosa's Billiards in Norcross, GA, launched a raid.

Steven Bae Kim, 66, from Duluth, GA, the owner of the establishment, was charged with business gambling, running a gambling establishment, and playing games of chance, reports Georgia TV station WSB.

Alongside Kim, Seth Abernathy, 40, of Auburn, Ga., a staff member, was taken into custody for commercial gambling. Eight other individuals were also detained for gambling. These individuals haven't been officially identified yet.

The cases against the 10 suspects were forwarded to local prosecutors.

Suspect narcotics and an unspecified sum of money were confiscated during the raid. There's also the possibility of additional charges regarding the drugs.

The billiards hall has been under investigation since last year.

A Gwinnett County Police Department (GCPD) officer had been told the business was operating a casino. Undercover officers went to the operation and were able to confirm the business was being used as a front for illegal gambling. After presenting their evidence, a judge granted them a warrant to raid the business.

Following the raid, the business was closed.

Authorities are still seeking more information about the illegal activities. Tips can be given to GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300, or anonymous information can be given to Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or online at www.stopcrimeATL.com.

Arrest at Casino

A woman, Amy Perez, wanted for a South Carolina kidnapping and attempted murder was captured recently at a Mississippi casino.

Perez is wanted on six warrants related to the kidnapping of a woman and her 9-year-old son in May, according to the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, Perez kidnapped the two individuals after becoming envious of the woman who began dating her estranged husband.

Perez and her accomplices forcibly entered the victim's residence, authorities stated. They allegedly covered the heads of the two victims with bags prior to the kidnapping. The woman was stabbed.

Perez and her son, Hunter Ricci, were arrested for attempted murder and kidnapping.

The son was not physically harmed, the Chesterfield County Sheriff Cambo Streater told Tennessee TV station WHBQ. "Perez had a stab wound, and she was cut with a knife."

The adult victim contacted her boyfriend minutes after the break-in. Authorities were alerted, and the two victims were found about 8 hours after the kidnapping.

Perez has continued to threaten the two victims, authorities said.

The Tunica County Sheriff’s Office was made aware that Perez was at an unnamed Mississippi casino.

"She needs to be in jail. These are extremely serious charges, and she needs to be in jail. The bond needs to be high enough so she probably cannot secure bond to get out," Streater said.
