Homicide in Oklahoma Casino Parking Lot Prompts Detainment
On a Sunday evening, a man lost his life in the parking garage of Oklahoma's Choctaw Casino & Resort-Durant. Antonio Anthony Latham, 20, from Gunter, Texas, was arrested shortly after the violent incident.
Latham was charged with first-degree murder, as per a local TV station KXII. The deceased victim was identified as 51-year-old Phillip Wingfield by KFOR.
The incident took place in the casino's Sky Tower parking garage around 6:30 p.m..
Suspect in Custody
Latham was arrested at Oklahoma's Bryan County Jail on Sunday night and has been in custody since then. He is likely to make an appearance in court soon.
Both the suspect and the victim were the only people involved in the conflict. The motive behind their dispute and the possible weapon used remain unknown.
An autopsy will most likely be performed by a local medical examiner to determine the identity of the victim and the cause of his death.
The Choctaw Nation's Lighthorse Police Department is handling the investigation, with help from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. The detectives examined CCTV footage from the casino to search for any relevant clues and found potential witnesses connected to the crime.
The Choctaw Casino is roughly 91 miles from Dallas, Texas, and is run by the Choctaw Nation.
