"Friends Experience" Shifting to MGM Grand Las Vegas
The "Friends Experience: The One in Vegas" is set to make its debut at the MGM Grand later this year, timed perfectly for celebrating the hit NBC show's 30th anniversary. According to Stacy Moscatelli, the CEO of Original X Productions, producers of the attraction, Las Vegas is the ideal destination since it draws millions of "Friends" enthusiasts annually and is home to some of the series' most famous and comical episodes.
While the aim is to "be there for you," none of the original cast from the show will be physically present. Instead, all the sets will be replicated, and any remaining original set pieces can be found at the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California, where the show was filmed.
The joy of "The Friends Experience" lies in engaging with the props, rather than simply staring at them behind glass or behind barriers. What's the fun in that, when you can't sit in Central Perk's coffee shop, dance your way up the stairs with a couch while yelling "Pivot!" at your friend Rachel, or dress up as Joey in all of Chandler's clothes?
The attraction's appeal is the opportunity to capture a dozen photos of you and your friends recreating iconic scenes from one of the most well-loved sitcoms in television history. The all-ages experience has visited 24 cities so far, with Miami currently playing host and Boston next up. A permanent location in New York City has been running for the past five years.
Although the press release terms it the "second US flagship location," as with any show in Vegas, it won't be around forever. It will only continue to thrive as long as the tickets keep selling out. Exact opening dates and when tickets will become available have not yet been revealed, but you can reserve your spot by registering at FriendsTheExperience.com/Vegas.
