Possible summer loan arrangement? - Fiél's perspective on U23 rider Kania.
Similar to previous promising strikers Jermain Nischalke (loaned to Dortmund) and Leonardo Vonic (presently at RW Essen), Julian Kania (21) has had a fantastic season in the fourth division, scoring frequently. Kania, like his attacking counterparts from the previous year, is now reportedly contemplating a move.
His motivation for leaving is clear: exactly like Nischalke and Vonic, Kania was awarded a professional contract at Nuremberg, yet failed to make a significant impact with the senior side. In the space of four limited appearances, the center forward didn't even make the cut for the second division team in the final six games.
Despite the fact that Nuremberg is having trouble with their forward line, coach Cristian Fiél (44) maintains that Kania must continue to develop. "It is Kania's responsibility to progress. Even if he scored 86 goals in the regional league, it's still the fourth division and we occupy a higher league position. He has his opportunities, he trains with us daily, all he needs to do is take that step."
However, it's unclear whether Kania will continue his journey with 1. FC Nürnberg. Like Nischalke and Vonic in the recent past, Kania is likely not keen on another season in the Regionalliga Bayern.
However, Fiél hasn't lost faith in his U23 striker: "Kania indeed possesses his quality. But he still requires more focus for this league. He has an eye for goal, but I think he still needs guidance to grow further."
