Ex-Official from Hampton Beach Reportedly Unzipped Privacy at The Brook Casino, Cops Affirm

A previous community leader from Hampton Beach, N.H. is under investigation for lewd behavior, disruptive conduct, minor physical assault, and false fire alarm triggering following an evening at The Brook Casino in nearby Seabrook.

Bryan Provencal, 46, a local culinary entrepreneur, explained to The Portsmouth Herald that his conduct on February 13 was far from his usual self. He claims he has no recollection of the night in question and suspects he was spiked with drugs.

According to Provencal, he spent the night with friends at The Brook, previously known as the Seabrook Greyhound Park, to celebrate his birthday. He asserts that he only consumed a single vodka and diet soda throughout the night.

The final memory he has is visiting the restroom, where he experienced a strange intoxication. He assumes he then left the restroom, which could have led to the lewd behavior charge.

“That’s not me,” Provencal stated. “I can’t fathom why that transpired. I think someone tried to swindle me, possibly slipped something into my drink, or I haven’t a clue. I don’t do drugs.”

Unveiling the Truth

Authorities were summoned to The Brook around 10:30 p.m. to address disturbance complaints. According to Lt. Timothy Mone of the Seabrook Police Department, Provencal is accused of causing a commotion after being asked to leave, assaulting employees and an unidentified patron.

Allegedly, Provencal lowered his trousers in front of casino patrons, exposing himself. Mone stated that witnesses also saw him trigger the fire alarm, prompting emergency services.

Provencal denies setting off the alarm. However, he believes someone from his group might have done so. The assault charge resulted from him brushing past a security guard, he added.

Memory Blackout

Provencal was a former member of Hampton Beach’s ZBA. In 2020, he ran for a position on the Board of Selectmen and owns the town’s Pier restaurant. His court date is set for April 12.

" anyone could get drugged. If this was my regular conduct, it would happen all the time," he told The Herald. “I can’t make excuses because I don’t remember being there. All I can say is, this isn’t what I normally do.”

Provencal stated he has frequented The Brook for 25 years without incident.
