Vodafone Expands 5G Network in Ahorn, Eliminating Mobile Broadband Dead Zone

Vodafone, one of the leading communication companies in Germany, has launched a new mobile network station in Ahorn. This expansion project aims to improve mobile broadband coverage in the district and bring the region one step closer to a fully connected future.

The new station, equipped with the latest 5G technology, marks a significant milestone in Vodafone's ongoing efforts to upgrade its network. Currently, 65 out of the 70 mobile network stations in the district are equipped with LTE, but the goal is to upgrade the remaining 42 stations without 5G to 5G sites, provided it is structurally feasible.

With the installation of this new station, approximately 73% of the inhabited areas in the district can now be supplied with 5G. In fact, 28 of the 70 stations in the district already have 5G broadband technology on board. This expansion offensive is part of Vodafone Germany's plan to implement further mobile network construction projects to expand the existing mobile network.

The new 5G station in Ahorn also supports the latest versions of the emergency call technology AML and the disaster warning system Cell Broadcast. Cell Broadcast technology, installed in all mobile network stations in Ahorn, warns the surrounding population via smartphone about danger situations. The AML system, when calling "112" in Ahorn, automatically transmits the location of the caller to the emergency control center.

Vodafone's Chief Technology Officer, Tanja Richter, emphasizes the importance of mobile networks for quality of life, local economy, and jobs. "Mobile networks are crucial for our everyday lives, and they play a vital role in driving economic growth and job creation," Richter said.

In addition to its commitment to connecting people and businesses, Vodafone is also dedicated to sustainability. The company aims to be carbon neutral by 2025 and emission-free by 2040, with 100% of its power needs already covered by renewable energies.

Vodafone Germany generates an annual turnover of approximately 13 billion euros with around 15,000 employees. The company's new mobile network station in Ahorn connects 3,000 residents and guests to Vodafone's mobile data highway, ensuring a better connected future for the community.

Vodafone promotes diversity and respects all people, regardless of their ethnic origin, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, belief, culture, or religion. The company continues to invest in its infrastructure and technology to provide reliable, high-quality communication services to its customers across Germany and the world.
