Vehicle Accident on A4 Highway Leads to Multi-hour Traffic Delays

In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tractor-trailer carrying boxes of adhesive tape and adhesive strips jackknifed on the A4 highway near Hainichen, Mittelsachsen district. The incident occurred around 1:15 AM.

The 55-year-old driver of the truck, fortunately, remained uninjured. The truck veered off the road shortly after the Hainichen exit for unknown reasons and collided with a guardrail, overturning in the process.

As a result of the accident, the highway was closed in the direction of Erfurt. The closure persisted until around 11 AM on Saturday morning, causing significant traffic disruption. Most of the cargo remained undamaged, with only minor damage to some of the boxes.

Due to diesel fuel spillage, firefighters, highway maintenance department employees, an oil spill company, and the district environmental authority were on site to manage the situation. The estimated damage from the accident is in the tens of thousands of euros.

The company that transported the adhesive tapes and adhesive strips in the overturned truck was the Leipzig-based company Rebo. No new information about the involvement of emergency services or environmental authorities was provided.

No further information about injuries or further incidents was provided in this paragraph. The highway reopened after the cleanup and repairs were completed, bringing relief to stranded motorists and restoring normal traffic flow on the A4 highway.
