UAE families redefine travel as multi-generational Eid getaways surge
Family travel is booming in the UAE as Eid holidays approach. New figures show that more than half of Gen Z adults have taken trips with their parents in the last two years. Meanwhile, a surge in outbound travel searches highlights growing demand for shared getaways. A recent study found that 41% of UAE travellers are now planning holidays with extended family, including parents, children, and grandparents. Shared experiences are a key driver, with 62% saying they book trips to create memories together. Another 52% believe travel strengthens family bonds.
Demand for Eid breaks has also pushed travellers to plan earlier and compare routes more carefully. On May 26 alone, outbound travel searches from the UAE jumped by 51% compared to the previous week. Popular destinations included India, Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, and Sri Lanka. Flexible itineraries and smarter planning are now priorities for many. Nearly one-third of Millennials have even travelled with both their children and parents, reflecting a shift toward multi-generational trips.
The trend shows no signs of slowing, with family-focused holidays dominating Eid travel plans. As more UAE residents seek meaningful time together, early bookings and flexible arrangements are becoming the norm. The data suggests that shared travel experiences will remain central to future holiday choices.
