This weekend, wine enthusiasts and curious visitors alike are invited to the 26th edition of the Open Winery Days, taking place along the picturesque Elbe river from Diesbar-Seußlitz to Dresden-Pillnitz.

The event promises a delightful mix of wine tasting, vineyard and cellar tours, culinary extras, live music, and art exhibitions. Small inns are also participating, some of which only open for this special occasion.

Notable wineries like Schloss Wackerbarth, Proschwitz Prinz zur Lippe, and Hoflößnitz are joining the festivities, offering visitors a chance to sample their finest vintages. Schloss Wackerbarth, for instance, will be showcasing its sparkling wine production, while Hoflößnitz is producing traditional Schieler, a unique mixture of red and white grape juice.

The Saxon State Foundation for Nature and the Environment has opened its vineyard on the Meissen Castle Hill, adding to the diverse selection of wineries taking part. Despite the winemakers managing the vineyard this weekend not being explicitly named, the event is sure to be a highlight.

To facilitate travel between wineries, a shuttle bus service is available, with two special lines running every 20 minutes. Even if a shower comes in the afternoon, it won't be a hindrance, as the weather is perfect - not too hot and not too cold.

In addition to the wineries, several businesses are participating, making for a vibrant and lively atmosphere. The Meissen Wine Cooperative, for example, has a full concert program, and the Schuh Winery is offering Rock 'n' Roll concerts during the open winery days.

Sponsorship for wine stocks is being sought for the vineyard maintained by students from the St. Afra Grammar School, providing an opportunity for visitors to support local education.

The Open Winery Days continue on Sunday, offering another day of wine, music, and art along the Elbe. Whether you're a wine connoisseur or simply looking for a fun day out, this event is not to be missed.
