Rare Sports Memorabilia Auction Supports Disabled Athletes in France

Charity Auction: "Le Sport a du Cœur" Sells 80 Iconic Items from 100 Champions: Stories and Confessions

From December 8 to 15, 2024, our platform will host an exclusive charity auction in support of the Le Sport a du Cœur association, raising funds to purchase adaptive sports wheelchairs. 80 signed items—featured in the book 100 Champions: Stories and Confessions—once owned by legendary French athletes such as Zinedine Zidane, Teddy Riner, Tony Parker, Romane Dicko, Alexis Hanquinquant, and many others, will go under the hammer with a starting bid of just €1.

Each item comes with a certificate of authenticity and a QR code linking to an audio testimony from the athlete, sharing the personal significance of the object at a pivotal moment in their career.

This groundbreaking initiative, blending a passion for sports with solidarity, will help Le Sport a du Cœur fund specialized wheelchairs for athletes with disabilities, fostering inclusion through sport and breaking down barriers to participation.

In parallel, the association has launched a national call for proposals to select parasport clubs that will receive at least 50 of these adaptive chairs.

"The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games marked a historic turning point, with unprecedented media coverage and an average global viewership of 40 million. While the event raised awareness of these exceptional athletes and the Paralympic cause, the situation remains challenging for the 12 million people with disabilities in France. With only 35,000 licensed athletes under the French Handisport Federation and 60,000 in adaptive sports in 2023, access to sports remains a major hurdle—particularly due to the cost of specialized equipment, such as adaptive wheelchairs priced between €2,000 and €15,000. Now more than ever, Le Sport a du Cœur is committed to upholding the Paralympic values of courage, determination, inspiration, and equality," says Benoît Eycken, President of Le Sport a du Cœur.

"In the wake of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games—and building on their success—it is crucial to ensure that as many people with disabilities as possible have free access to regular sports activities. One of the biggest obstacles is the lack of adapted equipment. I am proud to support this initiative, which serves everyone," comments Michaël Jérémiasz, world and Paralympic wheelchair tennis champion, Chef de Mission of the French delegation at the Paris 2024 Games, and ambassador for Le Sport a du Cœur.

A Parasport Christmas with our platform and Le Sport a du Cœur

Up for auction: Zinedine Zidane's cleats from his time as Real Madrid coach, Teddy Riner's black belt from his 2023 Grand Slam victory, Tony Parker's No. 9 jersey, and items from medalists at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including Romane Dicko's signed competition T-shirt, Alexis Hanquinquant's qualifying suit from the Tokyo Games, and Karim Laghouag's jersey from the Rio and Tokyo Olympics.

"We are thrilled to partner with Le Sport a du Cœur and proud to champion solidarity in the lead-up to the holidays. Beyond offering a unique chance to own a piece of sports history, every bid helps fund a project that will make a real difference in the lives of people with disabilities," states Sarah Tayeb, General Manager of our platform France.
