PlayCity launches tool to crack down on illegal gambling ads online

PlayCity has introduced a new digital tool for reporting illegal gambling advertisements. The system lets users flag suspicious ads across social media, websites, and other online platforms.

This move comes after the Federal Gambling and Lottery Commission was disbanded in April 2024. PlayCity now oversees gambling and lottery regulations in its place.

The reporting tool is available on the PlayCity website. Users must submit three key details: the platform where the ad appeared, a direct link to it, and supporting evidence.

Once a report is filed, PlayCity will review the content. If a violation is confirmed, the organisation will request the removal of the ad. Advertisers found breaking the rules may also face financial penalties. The system aims to tighten control over illegal gambling promotions. PlayCity’s new role follows the closure of the previous regulatory body earlier this year.

The tool provides a clear way for the public to report illegal gambling ads. Confirmed cases will lead to ad removals and possible fines for offenders. PlayCity’s oversight marks a shift in how such violations are monitored and enforced.
