Malta Gaming Authority unveils free tool to assess gambling risks

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has launched a new online Self-Assessment Tool to help players review their gambling habits. The free and anonymous service aims to encourage responsible play by providing personalised feedback on potential risks. Available in both English and Maltese, the tool can be accessed through the Player Hub on the MGA website. It uses a nine-question survey based on the Problem Gambling Severity Index to evaluate a user’s gambling behaviour. The assessment also takes into account social and environmental influences.

The platform is designed to be straightforward and user-friendly. After completing the survey, players receive guidance on whether they might benefit from professional support. If further help is recommended, the tool directs users to partner organisations for additional care. Beyond self-assessment, the MGA’s Player Hub offers information on safer gambling measures. These include options for setting deposit limits and blocking bets globally. The initiative reflects the authority’s ongoing efforts to promote player protection and reduce gambling-related harm.

The Self-Assessment Tool is part of a wider push by the MGA to support individuals affected by problem gambling. By collaborating with specialist organisations, the authority ensures that those in need can access the right resources. The service remains free, confidential, and easily available to all players.
