In the heart of Berlin, the silent green Kulturquartier plays host to the 10th edition of the Z2X-Ideenfestival on August 30th. This annual event brings together a diverse group of thinkers, activists, and creatives to inspire, facilitate connections, and exchange ideas about projects that matter.

Tech journalist Ingo Dachwitz is set to speak about the exploitation of the Global South by tech companies. He will delve into the topic of "clickbait workers", the myth of green digitalization, and the traces of old colonialism in the digital world. A video of the conversation can be found online for those unable to attend in person.

Meanwhile, Ocean Hale Meißner, a queer activist, has highlighted the dangerous nature of activism in Eastern Germany. Despite facing harassment, fear, and a lack of support, Meißner continues to fight for democratic, anti-fascist, and queer rights.

The ZEIT has invited 1,000 young people to the festival, ensuring a vibrant and engaged audience. Journalist and author Özgü İnan will call for standing up against an AfD government and being solidarity in the fight against a shift to the right.

Cultural trendscout and columnist Isabelle Rogat will discuss current phenomena in social networks and explore whether ChatGPT can be moral and what that means for us. Psychologist Stella Schultner will participate in a live recording of the ZEIT sex podcast "Is that normal?" to discuss Green Flags, triggers, conflict, and letting go.

The festival offers a part that can be followed from a distance, ensuring those unable to attend in person can still engage with the discussions. Activist Suraj Mailitafi, who is the spokesperson of the "Justice for Lorenz" initiative, will report on racist experiences with the police and demand clarification about the death of Lorenz, a young black man who was shot dead by the police with five shots.

Elsewhere, journalist Mariya Martiyenko will report on the Russian full-scale invasion in Kharkiv, Ukraine, discussing what constitutes a real peace beyond a ceasefire. Sociologist Armin Nassehi will speak in a special edition of the series "The Big Questions of Our Time" about whether we get used to everything and what can be done better.

The Z2X-Festival is not just about discussions, but also about action. The purpose of the festival is to inspire and facilitate connections, fostering a community of individuals committed to making a positive impact. A video of the opening of the festival can be seen online, offering a glimpse into the day's events.

For those interested in the full programme, it can be found online. Whether you're attending in person or following from a distance, the Z2X-Ideenfestival promises to be a day of thought-provoking conversations, inspiring ideas, and a call to action.
