Gamstop hits record growth as younger gamblers seek self-exclusion tools

Gamstop, the UK’s self-exclusion scheme for online gambling, saw record growth in the second half of 2025. New registrations climbed to 58,675, with younger users making up nearly a third of sign-ups. The trend highlights a rising demand for tools to manage gambling habits. Between July and December 2025, Gamstop recorded an average of 319 new registrations each day. By the end of the year, total sign-ups reached around 562,000 players. The five-year exclusion remained the most popular choice, selected by 47% of users.

Younger gamblers, aged 16 to 24, showed a strong preference for shorter exclusions. Among this group, 38% opted for the six-month period. However, registrations from this age bracket surged by 40% compared to the first half of the year.

December 2025 marked another milestone as more than half of those choosing a five-year exclusion enabled auto-renewal. This feature, which extends the exclusion automatically, suggests many seek long-term support. CEO Fiona Palmer linked the growth to an increasing need for self-exclusion tools. The latest figures confirm Gamstop’s expanding role in helping gamblers limit their activity. With auto-renewal usage rising and younger users joining in greater numbers, the scheme continues to adapt to demand. Total registrations now exceed half a million, reflecting its growing importance in the UK.
