Emergency crews battling blazes sparked by youths playing with fire
In the quiet town of Bad Ems, Rhineland-Palatinate, an unexpected incident unfolded last week. Two boys, believed to be around 9 to 12 years old, gained unauthorized access to the flat roof and an abandoned annex of a four-story apartment building.
The boys ignited paper on the flat roof, which quickly spread to insulation material stored in the annex, setting off a small fire. Thankfully, a resident, noticing the smoke, acted swiftly and climbed onto the roof with a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. Other residents also rushed to help, using buckets of water to contain the blaze.
The fire response was triggered not only by the residents but also by the burning children, who were seen by several residents in the vicinity. Fortunately, the fire did not result in any injuries, and the residents managed to extinguish the fire before the emergency services arrived.
The police have reported the incident and are now seeking witnesses to help identify these boys. It is uncertain at this time if there is any damage to the building. The boys fled the building via the stairwell to the outside.
The police are urging anyone who may have seen the boys or has any information about the incident to come forward. The community of Bad Ems is reminded to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all its residents.
