Denmark's gambling revenue soars 25% in September 2025, led by sports betting boom
Denmark’s gambling regulator, Spillemyndigheden, has published the country’s gaming revenue figures for September 2025. The data shows a mixed picture, with strong growth in some sectors but declines in others. Overall, the market saw a significant rise in spending compared to the same month last year. Total gaming revenue in September 2025 reached KR 714 million (around $111.1 million), marking a 25.1% increase from the previous year. The biggest jump came from sports betting, which surged by 53.4% to KR 225 million. Online casinos also performed well, with revenue climbing 20.7% to KR 361 million.
Land-based casinos saw a modest rise of 4.9%, bringing in KR 31 million. Meanwhile, bingo revenue remained low at KR 2 million. Slot machines, however, experienced a slight dip, with earnings falling 0.7% to KR 95 million. The report also highlighted the use of Denmark’s self-exclusion programme, ROFUS. By September 2025, a total of 64,613 users had registered, with 41,990 opting for permanent exclusion and 22,623 choosing temporary bans. This comes after the country updated its marketing guidelines for gaming operators in July 2025.
The latest figures reveal a growing gambling market in Denmark, driven mainly by online and sports betting. While some areas like slot machines saw a decline, overall spending rose sharply. The continued use of self-exclusion tools also reflects ongoing efforts to promote responsible gambling.
