Canning Town's first cinema in 40 years opens with jobs and culture
Canning Town is set to welcome its first cinema in over 40 years. Really Local Group will open a new entertainment venue at Linkcity’s Hallsville Quarter, bringing films, dining and co-working spaces to the area. The project aims to create a cultural hub for the local community while offering new job opportunities. The venue will feature a three-screen cinema, including one large screen and two smaller ones, with around 230 seats in total. Alongside the screens, visitors will find a café, a bar and informal co-working spaces. All areas of the venue will remain open to the public.
Really Local Group has partnered with London Film School to give students exclusive access. Two dedicated ‘project’ rooms will be available for their use. The company also plans to hire around 10 local residents from Newham, supporting employment in the area. Construction is on track for completion in the fourth quarter of 2023. The development forms part of the wider Hallsville Quarter, which will introduce new retail and dining options to Canning Town.
Once open, the venue will offer a mix of entertainment, workspaces and community-focused activities. The cinema’s return after four decades marks a significant addition to Canning Town’s cultural scene. Local residents will benefit from jobs, training opportunities and a new social destination.
