Arson at a Clubhouse in Tostedt/Buchholz ++ Arsonist Admitted to Psychiatric Facility Following Damage and Threats (Politics - WL)
On the morning of August 19, 2025, a fire broke out at the sports facilities on Holzweg, causing significant damage. The fire was reported at around 3:30 AM, and by the time the fire department arrived, flames were already shooting out of the windows of the wooden clubhouse near the football fields.
The police arrived at the scene shortly after and found two male individuals near the area, who fled when officers approached. The police suspect that these individuals may have deliberately started the fire, but a specific perpetrator has yet to be identified.
In a related incident, on August 18, 2025, a police incident occurred at a refugee accommodation on Am Blocksberg Street. A 27-year-old resident was involved in the incident, causing damage to parts of the facility. During the incident, the resident became aggressive towards the police and resisted when officers tried to put handcuffs on him for transport to the station. The resident threatened another resident with a knife and even bit a female officer on the thigh during the struggle.
As a result of his actions, several criminal proceedings have been initiated against the resident. After a medical examination, he was taken to a psychiatric hospital under police escort, where he later attempted to harm himself.
The fire at the sports facilities caused extensive damage to the clubhouse's roof, and the estimated cost of the damage is at least 80,000 EUR. The fire was brought under control by the fire department, and the scene has been secured for further investigation.
