A gentleman from New York faces 67 counts due to an alleged scheming involving Wawa stores in Northern Virginia.

In Stafford County, Virginia, a 23-year-old man named Caiteng Li from New York found himself in hot water after being charged with 67 offenses related to an alleged fraud plot at Wawa convenience stores.

The drama unfolded on Sunday, around 9:15 p.m., when deputies from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) responded to a report of unauthorized credit card use at a Wawa store. Upon arrival, they learned of 11 unauthorized transactions at the Garrisonville Road store.

Deputies from the SCSO waited at the Wawa on Richmond Highway, and Li was taken into custody immediately. Li was found to possess suspected controlled substances and money orders, and he did not have a valid driver's license.

Investigations revealed that Li had allegedly committed another fraudulent purchase at the Austin Park Drive store and attempted another at Wonder Road, which was declined. Authorities discovered that these alleged fraudulent activities occurred at Wawa convenience stores in Stafford County, specifically at the 100 block of Garrisonville Road, Austin Park Drive, and Wonder Road.

Before his arrest, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office had identified Li as a suspect involved in a fraud scheme at a Wawa store in Virginia. Li was held without bond as of Wednesday.

Deputies began canvassing nearby Wawa locations to investigate further. Using store surveillance footage, they were able to match Li's identity with the surveillance image. Li also had receipts from recent Wawa transactions in his possession.

Li was charged with 13 counts each of credit card theft, credit card fraud, receiving goods by fraud, identity theft with intent to defraud, and obtaining money by false pretenses. He was taken to the Rappahannock Regional Jail following his arrest.
